According to one I W8 student, sex is the “most talked-about subject in school”, but she wasn’t referring to the teachers talking about it. She was referring to students. Teenagers are talking about sex, in and out of school, whether anybody likes it or not. And a lot of the information that they are spreading is false. In different schools, we have had students ask about things that they have heard from friends that were either completely false, or even worse, half-truths.
Also, they are constantly bombarded with sexual references and images by the different types of media that they consume. Sex is a subject that they are curious about, interested in, and discussing among themselves. And most of what they are hearing from their peers and the media is either not true, or not in keeping with your family’s values and standards.
We believe that we can be a voice of truth among all the disinformation, and we feel fortunate to have been given a forum to speak that truth. We are grateful to the schools that welcome us in to their classrooms in order to give students clear, concise, logical reasons to have healthy relationships and save sex for marriage. We consider it a privilege to meet your kids and help them better understand their romantic relationships and feelings. We hope to partner with you and other parents to increase our students’ understanding and acceptance of the truth about relationships.
