Our Results
Our most recent compilation of results revealed some good news for the Northeast Tennessee/Southwest Virginia region: we are making progress! Consider the following points:
- The percentage of our long-term students during the school year 2008-09 who indicated that they plan to save sex for marriage was 73%. The percentage of students in the control group who made the same indication was 41%.
- For our first-time students, the percentages of those agreeing to save sex for marriage grew by 11%.
- The number of our high school students who learned during our instruction that it can be dangerous to their health to have sex outside of marriage grew by 42%.
- Since our program's inception, around 1,000 students have changed their minds and decided to save sex for marriage.
- The teen pregnancy rate is 1.12% for Northeast Tennessee, compared to 1.39% statewide.
- Among our prior-year students, 79% (middle school) and 68% (high school) indicated one year or more later their plans to save sex for marriage.
- Higher increases for positive responses about sexual choices are being seen in males as compared to females.
